888 Loses VP to Spacebar Media

888Holdings VP Darren Sims has moved to Spacebar Media. This is 888’s second loss of a top executive in recent times. Earlier, VP Brand Marketing, Matt Robinson left 888 to head the London Marketing Division of PartyGaming.

Darren Sims has served as the Managing Director of Globalcom before joining the 888 stable. Globalcom was acquired by 888 in 2007 for 34.2Million USD. Functioning under the Dragonfish brand name, it provides softwares for numerous online bingo websites. Mr. Sims oversaw the smooth integration of Globalcom into the 888 Holdings group. He moved to 888 when Globalcom was bought . Sims also launched the hugely successful online bingo site 888Ladies Bingo.

Spacebar Media is the parent company of rival online bingo website Wink Bingo which enjoys great popularity and is considered one of the top UK online bingo websites today. Sims will soon be joining Spacebar Media at their Highgate offices. There was some surprise in the industry that 888 and Dragonfish had not enforced a non-compete clause to restrict Sims from joining a rival company immediately.

Spacebar Media owns Wink Bingo and fast growing bingo website Posh Bingo. Wink Bingo uses Globalcom software. Darren Sims joins Spacebar media after a two-year stint as Vice President at 888, at the end of his contract. This follows other recent news of 888 losing out on the Cashcade acquisition to rival company PartyGaming.

Cashcade is the company’s biggest licensee on the Globalcom/Dragonfish bingo software platform. However, Cashcade is still under a binding contract with Globalcom that is valid for another two years.
