The ReferBingo.co.uk bingo affiliate program has announced its closure within a few weeks. This announcement was made via email to bingo affiliates on 26 of June 2014.
The lack of a date for the closure does seem to be a knee-jerk reaction to the new bingo tax regime. This bingo tax takes effect in the United Kingdom in the very near future. An email sent out to Bingo Affiliate partners stated the following:
“Due to changing circumstances in the market it’s with regret we would like to tell you that referbingo.co.uk will be winding down.Within a few weeks, we will no longer be able to accept any new traffic on the program.
If you have been happy with our program we ask you to please redirect your traffic to our sister program www.bingoreward.co.uk (The brands include King Jackpot and Jackpot Cafe).
You will continue to be looked after in the same way and can expect the same conversion and earnings. Please create an account at www.bingoreward.co.uk and redirect your traffic to those great brands to avoid wasting your traffic!
Please note that NO earnings will be lost – your earnings will continue to be paid, however, we will be winding it down by NOT accepting any new traffic.”
Bingo Affiliate Earnings
The promise that existing earnings will not be lost must be taken at face value, LeapFrog gaming brands have been very honest with bingo affiliates in the past. There is no reason for us to doubt this statement.
The fact that they have announced this well in advance, and are advising partners to redirect traffic to another LeapFrog Bingo affiliate program is also commendable.
Although LeapFrog Gaming Bingo sites are not the most promoted of bingo sites by bingo affiliates, there is a very hard-core affiliate group that swear by the bingo rooms, and there is very definitely a bingo player niche that enjoys the bingo games at the rooms.
We are assuming that the ReferBingo.com site will continue to run as per normal. It is a sad day for Bingo Affiliates with the closure of one of the longest running bingo programs.
Expect to see a lot more of this and more mergers in the coming months once the new tax regime in the United Kingdom takes effect.
