I received a letter through the post today from Lippy Bingo, this contained a leaflet which told me I had a fully funded bingo account worth up to £1,000, no deposit required.
Shock! This is the second letter and email I have received in the past couple of weeks from Dragonfish Bingo networked sites (Guest List Bingo being the other site) offering me a fully funded account.
That is despite me never registering or giving my personal details to either of these sites. What the hell is going on, how are these bingo sites getting hold of my personal data?
Is Dragonfish Bingo providing or selling some operators who perhaps are doing poorly on the network with player information lists from other operators on their network?
Selling player lists is not new. The previous owners of Game Village Bingo have reportedly been prolific in selling their player base to all and sundry, the question is, are Dragonfish Bingo up to the same tricks?
If the answer is yes, this is not good for any operators who run on the Dragonfish Bingo network. At present there are around 100 bingo sites on the Dragonfish network, a lot of operators market their own sites in lots of different ways to get bingo players to join them.
Some bingo operators have run big TV advertising campaigns; others have paid affiliates big sums to go on their portals and so on, which means the cost to the operator to pull in players can be huge. Basically, they have done all the ground work to get new members registering at their site, only for others to possibly reap the benefits.
If I was an operator on the DF network now I would not be amused to say the least and be asking them a very serious question. Why are people receiving emails and promotional material through the post from DF network sites whom they have never registered with?
These DF operators are quite obviously getting player lists from somewhere, but the big question is where? I would rather play at a trusted brand on the Dragonfish Bingo Network namely Pink Ribbon Bingo, rather than another site that got my personal details despite me never providing them.
We will be contacting Dragonfish re this issue and will report back on what they tell us.
