Rumours that Jackpot Joy is a target for acquisition by a Canadian Gambling company have surfaced in the last few days.
Canadians To Buy Jackpot Joy
If these rumours are true, it would be a major acquisition and sure to cost a lot of money.
Intertain are the company in question who are looking to buy, the Canadian Gambling company has already this year made a significant amount of gambling company purchases and it looks set to continue this shopping spree.
First Intertain took over WagerLogic who are the developers and owners of Cryptologic that supply the Intertain Group with its Casino and Bingo Software. It was not a major shock as the software was acquired from Amaya who is linked to Intertain.
Next up it purchased Mandalay Media who ran popular UK Bingo sites Costa Bingo, Sing Bingo and Fancy Bingo on the Dragonfish Bingo platform.
That purchase made it one of the largest bingo game providers in the United Kingdom in a single stroke.
Intertain also had enough cash to buy a Nordic Casino group giving it access to that market. That was Vera & John Casino.
According to sources in the Gambling Industry, a One Billion Canadian Dollar offer has been tabled and talks are in an advanced stage with an as of yet unidentified third-party.
Intertain Group is a publicly listed company in Canada and due to Stock Exchange rules have to declare this kind of potential purchase when spending this kind of cash. It would naturally affect the value of the stock so shareholders would be affected.
The cost of a takeover deal and the fact that Intertain is very active in the soft games market have led people to speculate that Gamesys is the 3rd party in question.
Gamesys are of course the owners of the Jackpot Joy brand that is so popular in the United Kingdom.
What gives this particular rumour leg is the fact that Gamesys also provide software to Caesar’s Casino and Bingo as well as Virgin Games.
If this rumour is true, it is a further sign of the continued consolidation that is happening in the UK Bingo and Games market.
Jackpot Joy is one of if not the premier Soft Game brands in the United Kingdom and the price range indicated would naturally make people think it is Gamesys. Watch this space for more news on this development.
