Lottery Games and Jackpots

Lotteries award prizes when your numbers match the draw. They are similar to bingo, with one difference: there is only one draw per game.

Legality varies by jurisdiction. Governments often run lotteries directly, using them to fund public projects like education and health. Some countries ban them outright.

EuroMillions

Played every Tuesday and Friday, EuroMillions dishes out mind-boggling rolling jackpots. Pick five numbers from 1–50 plus two Lucky Stars from 1–11.

UK players entering online are automatically included in the Millionaire Maker, a guaranteed draw that creates an instant millionaire.

UK Lotto

The National Lottery draws on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and players pick six numbers.

The Plus 5 add-on enters five consecutive daily draws on non-Lotto days, with fixed prizes from £2.50 to £250,000.

Powerball

Played Wednesdays and Saturdays across 43 states. The jackpot starts at $40 million and rolls until won, with an average win of around $255 million, paid as a lump sum or a 29-year annuity.

Match five white balls plus the red Powerball for the top prize. Matching all whites alone pays $1,000,000. The Power Play add-on at least doubles second-tier prizes.

Mega Millions

Starting at $15 million and rolling until hit, Mega Millions draws Tuesdays and Fridays with five numbers from 1–75 plus a Mega Ball.

The Megaplier can double, triple or quadruple non-jackpot winnings. Mega Millions holds the record single-ticket jackpot: $1.602 billion.

SuperEnaLotto

Italy's national game, drawn Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Six main numbers from 1–90 plus a Jolly number, across five prize tiers.

Match all six for the top prize. Five mains plus the Jolly still takes second.

EuroJackpot

Launched in 2012 to compete with EuroMillions, EuroJackpot draws Friday nights and statistically offers better odds.

Choose five numbers from 1–50 and two bonus numbers from 1–8, across 12 prize levels. The top prize starts at €10 million and can roll to €90 million.

Lottery FAQs

Is bingo or the lottery better value?
It depends what you want. Bingo has cheaper tickets, faster games and considerably better odds of winning something. Major lottery draws offer far larger jackpots but much longer odds.
What is the biggest lottery jackpot ever won?
Mega Millions holds the record for a single ticket, at 1.602 billion dollars. EuroMillions is capped lower, at 250 million euros.
What is lottery odds betting?
A newer way to play where you bet on how many numbers you will match, from one up to six, rather than buying a ticket. The odds improve, but you still need the right numbers to come up.
Can I play foreign lotteries from the UK?
Often, through licensed concierge or betting services. Availability and legality vary by country, so check the rules where you live before playing.
